The right marketing, done properly
Most small businesses don’t need more marketing. They need the right marketing, done properly. That usually comes down to three things: getting found on Google, getting named by AI tools like ChatGPT, and giving visitors a site that actually converts.
That’s what I do. I’m Marcus Taylor, and Digital Marcusing offers three focused services: search engine optimisation (SEO), generative engine optimisation (GEO), and UX strategy. No 50-page decks. No agency retainer for work that never quite lands. Just the strategy that moves the needle, explained in plain English.
What does Digital Marcusing do?
Digital Marcusing helps SMEs and sole traders get found online. I offer three services: SEO to rank on Google, GEO to get cited by AI search tools, and UX strategy to turn visitors into customers. Each one stands alone, and they work well together.
I spent years leading digital and UX strategy for financial services brands — a world of tight regulation, demanding stakeholders, and no room for guesswork. That’s the same rigour I bring to smaller businesses, minus the enterprise price tag.
The three services
SEO — get found on Google
Search still sends more qualified traffic than any other channel for most businesses. I’ll find out what’s holding your rankings back, fix the technical foundations, and build content around the terms your customers actually search for. No tricks, no black-hat shortcuts that get you penalised six months later.
See how SEO works →GEO — get cited by AI
People are asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews for recommendations instead of scrolling through search results. Some brands get named in those answers. Most don’t. GEO is the work of becoming one that does — through clear positioning, well-structured content, and a credible footprint across the web.
See how GEO works →UX strategy — turn visitors into customers
Traffic is pointless if your site doesn’t convert. UX strategy is about understanding why people leave, removing the friction, and guiding them toward the action you want. Small changes to the right pages often beat a full redesign.
See how UX strategy works →Who I work with
My clients are SMEs and sole traders who know digital matters but don’t have the time, budget, or in-house team to do it well. You don’t want a lecture on marketing theory. You want practical work that brings in customers, and a straight answer when you ask how it’s going.
If you’re a big brand with a 12-person marketing team, I’m probably not your best fit. If you’re a business owner who wears too many hats and wants an expert in your corner, we’ll get on fine.
How I work
Every job starts with a conversation and an honest look at where you are. I’ll tell you what’s worth doing, what isn’t, and roughly what to expect. If SEO is a waste of money for your business right now, I’ll say so.
From there, the work is measurable. You’ll know what I’m doing, why I’m doing it, and what changed. Clear strategy, no jargon, results you can point to.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need SEO, GEO, or UX?
Often all three, but rarely at once. Most businesses start with SEO or UX, because that’s where the quickest wins usually are. GEO builds on the same foundations, so good SEO work sets you up for it. We’ll work out the right starting point on our first call.
Are these services only for local businesses?
No. I work with businesses across the UK, remotely. Whether you serve one town or sell nationwide, the principles are the same.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the work, and I won’t pretend otherwise. Some clients want a one-off audit; others want ongoing support. I’ll give you a clear price for a clear scope, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Do you offer retainers or one-off projects?
Both. Some work suits a single project, like a technical SEO fix or a UX review. Other work, like content and GEO, pays off over months, so ongoing support makes more sense. I’ll recommend whichever fits your goals.
What makes you different from an agency?
You deal with me, not an account manager who passes your work to a junior. I’ve done this at enterprise level for financial services brands, and I bring that standard to smaller businesses without the overhead.
