Who we are

Last updated: 11 July 2026

This site is run by Marcus Taylor, trading as Digital Marcusing. I’m based near Chepstow in the UK and I’m the data controller for any personal information collected through digitalmarcusing.co.uk.

The short version: I collect the minimum I need to reply to you, deliver work you’ve asked for, and understand how the site is used. I don’t sell your data, I don’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask, and you can ask me to delete what I hold at any time.

The longer version is below. Questions to marcus@digitalmarcusing.co.uk .

What I collect and why

When you use the contact form

Your name, email address, company website if you give it, and whatever you put in your message. I use this to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to run the project. The lawful basis is legitimate interest (answering the enquiry you sent me) and, once we’re working together, contract.

When you download the free checklist

Your email address, which goes onto my mailing list so I can send you the checklist and occasional emails about AI search. The lawful basis is consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

When you book a call

The booking system (Cal.com) collects your name, email address and anything you add to the booking notes, so the call can happen and reminders can be sent. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.

When you browse the site

Like most websites, this one collects analytics data through Google Analytics: pages visited, rough location, device type, and how you found the site. This is aggregated and I use it to see what content is useful. I can’t identify you personally from it. The hosting provider also keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.

When you become a client

I collect what’s needed to deliver the work and invoice you: contact details, business information, and access to whatever you share for the project. Lawful basis: contract.

What I don’t do

I don’t sell or rent your data to anyone. I don’t send marketing emails to people who filled in the contact form. I don’t use your data to train AI models. If you email me about a project and it doesn’t go anywhere, that’s the end of it.

Who else sees your data

I use a small number of services to run the business. Each one processes data on my behalf:

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where data leaves the UK, it’s covered by UK adequacy decisions or standard contractual safeguards recognised under UK GDPR.

How long I keep it

Contact form enquiries: 12 months after our last exchange, then deleted. Mailing list: until you unsubscribe. Client records and invoices: six years, because HMRC requires it. Analytics data: retained per Google Analytics settings, currently 14 months.

Cookies

The site uses cookies for Google Analytics. These help me see how the site is used and nothing more. You can block cookies in your browser settings without affecting how the site works.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:

Email marcus@digitalmarcusing.co.uk and I’ll respond within one month, usually much faster. There’s no charge.

If you think I’ve handled your data badly and I haven’t put it right, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle data, I’ll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes affecting mailing list subscribers will be flagged by email.
